Motion Computing M1200

Hey TabletPeople,

Got for free one M1200 (not the new one with 933MHz CPU, the old with
866MHz). At this price I could not complain. :-)
I am not sure if it will come with the recovery CDs (I think such thing came
with it originally, didn't it?).
My question is, do I need that If I want to wipe out everything on it and
start from scratch using the TabletPC 2 CDs I have on MSDN?
My plan is to wipe it out, load the CDs from MSDN (why we have two by the
way?) and update all the drivers I can get from the manufacturer website.
Of course I do hope the freaking WiFi card on the thing will work right away
after the MSDN version is loaded otherwise I am screwed big time as there is
no floppy and no CD on the unit...
What do you think?
If there is a good soul willing to send me a copy of these recovery CDs I
would appreciate. :-)
I sent an email to Motion but did not hear back yet.
And changing the topic a little bit, which apps do you really think are MUST
have?
For drawing I am thinking about the Sketchwhatever Pro from Alias. Is it
that great?
For Notes I read OneNote and Journal can do it but another app called
MindSomething 2002 for the TabletPC is the killer one. Any comments on that?
I am eager to have the Tablet up and running. :-)
Should be here sometime next week.

Thanks guys and girls,

Hello, Claudio,

Mind Manager is awesome. It's certainly something I consider a must have
for Tablet PCs. One Note is great as well. Journal is built in to the
Tablet PC Edition, so you'll have that immediately.

Motion has been great to work with. You're correct that there is a recovery
CD that comes with it. I've had a Motion M1200 for almost a year now. Even
at the 800Mhz speed, it works well and does what I need. I have other
Tablet PCs as well, but I still routinely use the M1200. I think you'll be
very happy with it.

Thanks Terri!
I know the new one has a 933MHz CPU but I think the 866MHz one is close
enough in terms of performance, isn't it?
And do you know anything about the SketchPro from Alias?
Finally, any ideas on what would happen if I install the MSDN TabletPC
Edition OS on it???

Thanks!

Edition OS on it???
You'll be missing specific drivers installed by Motion. I think the MSDN
version is mainly designed for installing on hardware that doesn't have a
digitizer.

The new M1300 has a 1Ghz Pentium M processor. It's very nice, but I think
you'll be happy enough with the 866, especially considering the price. :)

Alias Sketchbook is an excellent program for the Tablet. You might also
want to check out Corel's Grafigo.
